Week 3 : Game 1 Niners (13) vs. SBD (32) The rain could not stop the most important game of the day. The Niners with a few late season pick-ups were ready to challenge SBD for a shot at first place. SDB jumped out to a 13-0 lead when Nick G. got his first of four TDs on the day and Steve S. found the end zone. Leading receiver Greg S. got the Niners on the board to make the score 13-7 at half time. The Niners defense came out strong and the Niners were able to get their receivers open. Fred R. found Scott M. to make the score 13-13. SBD answered when Dom R. found to make the score 20-13 On the Niners next possession a long pass to Scott M. gave the Niners 1st and goal with 5 minutes left in the game. They were stopped on 4 downs by SBD defense! SBD scored on their next possession to make the score 26-13. Another late TD made the final score 34-13. With the victory SBD clinched first place bye and are the regular season champions. A Niners victory next week over the dragons will give them a first round bye. Week 3.1 MVPs Greg S. - 3 Rec, 1 ReTD, (Niners) Dom R. - 3 PaTD, 1 RuTd, 1 Int (SBD) Week 3: Game 2 Chargers (26) vs. Dragons 20 The chargers came out ready to match their win total from the fall 2009 season. The Dragons have struggled on offense but they are building towards the playoffs and have played every team tough. Tim M. got the scoring going with a TD pass from Herb B. to make the score 7-0. Fred Peterson caught his second TD of the season from Jeremy B. to make the score 7-7. Herb B. connected with Tim M. again to get the lead back and make the score 13-7 at halftime. Defense! Defense! Defense! The Dragons had the ball deep in Chargers territory when Miguel G. intercepted the pass and took it back for a TD. With 19-7 lead the Dragons fought back and got back on the board with TD catch to Przem S. to make the score 19-14. Herb B. kept the chargers offense moving with his second TD of the game to Elijah B. An Interception by Lavelle T. allowed the chargers to keep the clock moving and hold a 26-14 with only a few minutes left. The Dragons fought until the end and got their final score when Jim C caught his first TD of the season. The final score was 26-20. Tim M. kept the pressure on the Dragons QB all game. He recorded 5 sacks and was nominated for player of the week. The chargers improve to 3-2 while the dragons dropped to 1-4.
Week 3.2 MVPs Miguel G. - 2 Re, 1 Int TD, 1 Sck (Chargers) Dave P. - 1 Pa TD, 3 Rec, 8 Tkl (Dragons) Week 3: Game 3 SBD (26) vs. Patriots (7) The Patriots got on the board first with a Hank B. TD and xpt conversion pass to Kyle P. The patriots answered backed with a Nick G. touchdown. The Patriots controlled the clock and kept SBD offense off the field for most of the first half. On their final possession of the half Nick G. got his second touchdown making the score 14-7 at half time. The Patriots continued to fight hard in the second half but SBD controlled the field position. Despite having no subs SBD rusher Andrew T. kept the pressure on the QB all day. Greg M. came in at QB. Deep in their own territory Jen M. intercepted a pass on the Patriots 2 yard line which led to a Brandon H score. The Patriots in the hurry up offense tried to mount a comeback but Chris S. snagged one of 3 interceptions in the game. SBD added another Brandon H. touchdown and won 26-7 SBD goes to got 5-0 while the Patriots dropped their second straight game. Week 3.3 MVPs Dom R. - 5 PaTD, 4 Tkl (SBD) Marlon - 3 Rec (Patriots) Week 3: Game 4 Stallions (12) vs. Dragons (7) The Dragons, playing the winless stallions, were looking for their first win against the 2 time undefeated defending champions. Both teams have had some roster changes from last season and are looking to get back to playoff form. The Dragons went with Dave P. at QB and he was able to get the Dragons the early 6-0 lead when he hit Jeremy B. for his first TD catch of the season. Fred P. caught the 1pt. conversion to make the score 7-0. The Stallion QB reins have been given to rookie QB Matt D. playing in his first UMPR flag football game. He was not able to connect with all-stars Andre J. and Marc E. The Dragons ran ball control offense and Dave P. was spreading the ball around to receivers Fred P., Jeremy and Justin L. Late in the first half Matt D. was able to find Dev C. for his first career passing TD. A failed xpt attempt left the score 7-6 at half time. Week 3.4 MVPs Anthony H. - 1 Rec, 1 ReTD, 1 Tkl (Stallions) Jeremy B. - 4 Rec, 1 Sck (Dragons) Tough defense was the story of the second half. Brandon S. came up big for the stallions defense while the stallions were pressured all day by Przem S. He recorded 3 sacks to keep the stallions deep in their territory all day. The stallions offense continued to struggle and turned the ball over when Dave P. intercept Matt D. with less than 1 minute left in the game. On their next possession the dragons tried to run the clock out but unable to convert a first down the stallions got the ball back with 22 seconds. On their second play with 11 seconds. Matt D. Hit Amp H. for the touchdown to make the score 7-12. The Dragons drop to 1-4 while the Stallions get their first win of the season. With a double header next week the stallions still have a shot at a first round bye.
Chargers (34) vs. Patriots (13) The 1-2 chargers came into Sunday's game with a new spark on defense and a chance to match last season's wins. The chargers and patriots have both found it tough to score points this season so this game could get them both on track. The chargers jumped out to 7-0 lead when Herb B. found Shareef D. Midway through first half the patriots were deep in charger territory when Shareef D.went 80 yards to make the score 14-0. 2 touchdown passes by Hank B. got the patriots on the board and made the score 14-13. On the next possession the patriots were again in the no run zone and what seem like an instant replay shareef D. went another 75 yards to give the chargers 21-13. In the second half both defense played tough. With the patriots trying to mount a comeback. Miguel G. intercepted his second pass of the day and scored to give the chargers a 28-13 lead. A late TD by Tim M. gave the chargers the victory and have a chance to improve to 4-2 with a win over the 1-3 stallions. Week 3.5 MVPs Tomo F. - 3 Rec (Patriots) James L. - 3 Rec, 1 xpt (Chargers) |
